How do I schedule a shift?
We recommend scheduling recurring shifts to help create a routine. However, if your schedule is unpredictable and one-time shifts are all you can do, that's fine too! We appreciate the time you're able to give.
1. Log in to CTL Home and select Scheduling
2. Select Add Weekly Shift or Add One-Time Shift at the top
3. Navigate to the time you want and select the time:
4. Then click “Confirm” at the bottom.
How do I delete a shift?
Hover your mouse cursor over the shift you want to delete, then select the trashcan icon on the right hand corner of the shift you want to delete.
How do I set my timezone?
You can check the timezone by looking to the left of the dates at the top of the calendar. If you click on the gear, you can change it to match your timezone.
You can then select the appropriate time zone from the dropdown menu.
What does the red dot next to some shifts mean?
Shifts that are regularly experiencing higher Texter volume than volunteer Crisis Counselor capacity will be indicated by a red dot. This is when we most need your help on the Platform!
If you’re able to schedule a red-dot shift, please do. Wait times are longer than average for Texters during these times.
Why is the shift I want to take “grayed out”?
If a shift is "grayed out," that indicates it is at full capacity. We want to ensure your time is well spent, so our system will close a shift when we have enough weekly volunteers scheduled for that time.
Remember, even if a weekly shift is full, you're always able to schedule a one-time shift!
What are the highest volume shifts? When will I be most helpful?
Shifts that are regularly experiencing higher Texter volume than volunteer Crisis Counselor capacity will be indicated by a red dot on the Scheduling page. This is when we most need your help on the Platform!
If you’re able to schedule a red-dot shift, please do. Wait times are longer than average for Texters during these times.
A reminder, you'll never have to take more conversations than you're comfortable with, even during high volume times. Each and every conversation makes a difference!
May I log in outside of my scheduled shift?
We want to make sure that we have enough Supervisors on each shift to safely monitor the Platform. If you would like to come on and help, please schedule a shift in the Scheduling room first.
