Hours are calculated when:
- You are in the queue waiting for a Texter. When you click “Help Another Texter,” it should turn gray and indicate you’re in line to receive a conversation!
If you navigate away from the Platform or lose connection before receiving a texter (and that button is once again green, but you have no convo) your hours are no longer being calculated.
The Platform will log you out automatically if there is no activity. So, if there is a higher wait time, make sure you click around the Platform regularly to actively stay in the queue.
- You are actively in a conversation with a Texter. Once you receive a conversation, the “Help Another Texter” button will return to green, but your hours will still be calculating, because you are in an active convo.
Our team designed the queue button, and calculation of hours, in this way because clicking into the queue (and waiting if no texters are assigned to you yet) tells us you're on the Platform to actively volunteer, as opposed to exploring Platform resources like Example Messages, the Toolbox, Resources etc.
